Hey, I’m Trevor Zylstra.

I’m a former correctional officer, certified in law enforcement and corrections. I worked in facilities across New Mexico and Colorado, including The GEO Group in Clayton, New Mexico. My roles took me through restrictive housing units, medical departments, general housing, vehicle patrol, food service, and even a mental health facility.

These days I’ve transitioned into advocacy work. I use my experiences in those high-stress environments to help first responders and veterans see the hidden trauma we carry—especially the kind that hits us on the inside before we even realize it’s there.

I’m a clinical mental health counseling student at Liberty University and one of the co-hosts of the One Moment Podcast. I’m passionate about breaking the stigma around mental health and having those real, no-filter conversations that help people—especially first responders and anyone carrying unseen trauma—know they’re not alone and that healing is possible, one moment at a time.

Hey, I’m Reubin Burney.

I’m 70 years young and a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor with more than 25 years in the field. I spent 38 years up in New York working in psychiatric units, detox, outpatient treatment, and medication-assisted programs. In 2012 I came back home to North Carolina, where I keep doing the work I love—especially helping folks break free from opioid addiction like fentanyl. I also do assessments for the DMV and DOT.

These days I’m proud to be a co-founder and co-host of the One Moment Podcast with Kevin and the team. My motto is simple: Just don’t live… thrive!

Hey, I’m Kevin Odom.

Early on, life showed up and I made a lot of mistakes. Seeing how drug addiction and alcoholism tore families and relationships apart is what lit the fire in me to become a counselor. I started in January 2019 working alongside Reubin in Medication-Assisted Treatment, and I’ve worked my way up through roles as Clinical Supervisor and Program Director.

I’m proud to host the One Moment Podcast with Reubin, Trevor, and Josh. We’re all about having those raw, real conversations that break the stigma around mental health, substance use, trauma, and recovery.

My mottos are simple: One Day at a Time, Easy Does It, and you definitely learn from making mistakes.
